I was exhibiting at a show some time ago when a fellow artist was displaying a print of Portland Head Light. I was so awestruck by the stature of this lighthouse that within 72 hours of the show’s end, I was in Maine fashioning my own interpretation of this beacon. I have returned on numerous occasions and shot many a frame before producing the image that stands before you. I included the large granite boulders in the foreground because they are not only indicative of Maine’s rocky coastline, but they also provide the support from which this lighthouse proudly stands.
