Growing up watching old western films on television and visiting out west as an adult, I still wonder what life must have been like in the “wild, wild west.” Nothing conjures up that feeling more than coming across an old barn or abandoned homestead during ones travels. These icons provide a palpable glimpse into our history – a rare window through which we might recapture a glance of everyday life in the distant past. This one came with a resident Badger which I observed excavating holes throughout the property during my visits. One never knows how long these structures will remain before encroachment, defacement or time itself robs us of these treasures. I feel very fortunate to have been able to document such an engaging place with the Teton Range serving as an appropriate backdrop.
